TO HOLD

To Hold is a metaphorical self-portrait based on a series of poems written by the director, after the sudden death of his wife. The poems are inspired by a decade of journal entries that reflect the process of grieving and the search for normalcy in the aftermath of loss. The film follows a lone figure wandering through the desert landscape of Northern Nevada. The figure serves as a catalyst for the poems, creating an abstract narrative of loss, shock, and the human desire to be seen and heard. Through out the film, the figure discovers a new relationship to the landscape and the reality of existence in the natural world, while also embracing the weight of the past. In the end, the figure discovers how embracing this natural reality allows for a healing acceptance of what life has become.
